There are some good news in July!
Mr. Sakamoto told us that he resumed selling a small amount of fresh eggs to a NPO support group. The radiation level of the eggs has been checked and passed the authorized test.

Before Fukushima power plant disaster occurred, Mr. Sakamoto earned his living by selling fresh eggs at grocery shops of JA (Japan Agricultural Cooperatives) and an official service plaza on Route 6 in Fukushima.

Some of his chickens are very special kind of poultry (such as Ukokkei) and their eggs were highly popular and were sold at a high price before the disaster. After 3.11, as Naraha area had been restricted, he'd totally lost his income.

The amount of the current selling is still very small and far from enough to make Mr. Sakamoto's living.
Yet, this is a big first step for him to move on and restore his and his animals' life.

Amazon Wish List updated for August

  • Foods
Taking account of the amount of stocks, foods for birds, dogs and cats are listed. A lot of bird food and dried dog food are needed.
  • Dog poles and leashes
We wish to replace the damaged poles and leashes with the stronger ones. We thank you for 9 poles and 7 leashes, which have been already donated by July.(Please see the wish list for the current remaining numbers.)
  • Household pest control items
Rat, fly, and mosquito control items are still highly needed. Particularly, rats are the current worst annoying pest at Mr. Sakamoto's residence. A TV program about the damages caused by animals in Fukushima evacuated area was televised on NHK.
